About Bernie McCarthy
Bernie McCarthy combines decades of private practice experience with nearly two decades inside the federal government.
Prior to establishing McCarthy Tax Law, Bernie was a partner at Shutts & Bowen LLP and a Director with KPMG, where his practice focused on resolving complex tax controversies and procedural tax matters.
Before entering private practice, Bernie served as an IRS Revenue Agent, IRS Appeals Officer, and Trial Attorney with the Chief Counsel's Office of the Internal Revenue Service. He also served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney.
Bernie has represented taxpayers, businesses, trusts, and exempt organizations in audits, appeals, tax court litigation, collection disputes, criminal investigations, and offshore compliance matters.
